MTN Sawa Tariff

MTN Yemen launched a new tariff “MTN Sawa” to its prepaid subscribers.6 YR per minute and 5 YR per SMS during the whole day. Tariffs apply if the sender and receiver are both subscribed in SAWA.

Normal tariff is applied outside SAWA.

To subscribe in Sawa call 555 then press 4 and follow the directions.50YR is deducted once only when diverting to Sawa.

The “smart recharge” service provided by MTN enables you to buy smart recharge cards through the immediate recharge service.

When you buy any smart recharge category, you will receive an SMS with the details of the smart card containing the recharge code.

To recharge, dial the following: 334#Recharge Code#OK

You can use the smart card to recharge your balance or share it with anyone at any time before its expiry date.

The smart recharge categories are the same as those of the immediate recharge service.

This service is available to all subscribers at all points of sale and MTN authorized dealers.

Basic Services

MTN SIM Activation:

1.  Enter your SIM card in your mobile phone.

2.  Call the number “222”. Choose your preferred language: press “1” for Arabic language or “2” for English language then press “1” to confirm your choice.

3.  After choosing a language, kindly follow the voice instructions to choose one of the following options:

-  To recharge your card, press “1”.

-  To check the remaining balance on your account and your card validity period, press “2”.

-  To change the language, press “3”.

-  To check your phone number, press “4”.

-  To change your secret number, press “5”.

4.  When you finish the above-mentioned steps, you either end the phone call or you choose more favorite and available options by calling “555”.

Remark: Make sure you activate your SIM card after you make your first phone call.


Account Recharge (Line Recharge):

You can recharge your account at any time by buying a MTN recharge card (scratch cards or immediate charging) available at the branches of the company, all the agents and distributors. You can learn below how to recharge your account:

-  Call “333” then enter the scratch code of the recharge card and press #.

-  Call *333* the scratch code of the recharge card # and “ok”.

-  Call 222 then press 1 and follow the instructions.


International Charging Service:

MTN offers its prepaid subscribers in Yemen the International Charging Service that enables them to recharge their lines by the available immediate charging categories through their parents and friends living abroad.

The companies that enable the Yemeni emigrants abroad to send a recharging card or account to MTN subscribers living in Yemen are as follows:

-  Al Jawal Saudi Company.

-  Mobily Saudi Company.

-  Zain Saudi Company.

-  Zain Kuwait Company.

-  Umniah Jordanian Company.

To check the available countries and international networks, send the word “abroad” to the number “111” free of charge.


Short Message Service:

This service enables you to send and receive a text message containing up to 70 letters in the Arabic language and 140 letters in the English language from and to a mobile phone number to more than 600 mobile networks around the world.

To activate this service, kindly follow the following steps:

-  Open “menu”, choose “messages” and then “messages settings”.

-  Enter the number of the messages center “+96773100004” and then “save”.

-  You can send and receive text messages to and from any phone number.


Multimedia Messages Service:

This service enables you to send a multimedia message containing up to 1000 letters in addition to colored images, songs, videos, motion pictures and others all in one message. You can also send and receive images and songs to and from international phone numbers.

To activate the Multimedia Messages Service:

-  Send an empty SMS to 9009 for 10 YR.

-  Or call *133*#, enter MTN services and choose Multimedia Messages Service.

This service enables MTN subscribers to make international calls to all the countries around the world. The prepaid subscribers can directly call the international number.

Call tariff: The international calls tariff will be determined in accordance with the international tariff specified in Yemen.


International Roaming Service for Prepaid System:

This service enables you to make and receive phone calls and to send and receive short messages while roaming in other countries without the need for a monthly subscription.

MTN prepaid subscribers will be able to recharge their lines while roaming using MTN recharge cards available in the following countries: Syria, Sudan, Iran and Afghanistan.

-  You can always recharge your account by entering the following codes (from the left to the right): *222* scratch card number #OK.

-  For further inquiries, send the word “One World” or "عالم واحد" to “111” free of charge.


MTN Internet Service through GPRS:

The internet service enables you to access the internet network through GPRS from a mobile phone or laptop. You will be able to access the internet network or voice mail easily.

For GPRS settings:

-  Send an empty SMS to the number “9009” for 10 YR.

-  Or call *133*# then enter MTN services and choose internet settings.

Internet Subscription Tariff: 1 Rial for each 5 kilobytes in case of downloading or browsing the internet.


MTN Entertainment Service:

Browse the internet and download songs, ringtones and videos from the following website: wap.mtnplay.com.ye.

The browsing tariff is 2 Files for each kilobyte. As for the download tariff, it is specified in the website.

For WAP settings, send an empty SMS to 9009 for 10 YR and then save it.


MTN Electronic Answering Machine Service:

The automatic answering machine program is the first program of its kind in Yemen. For the first time, the customer will receive answers to all his inquiries in the Arabic and English languages by sending a message to “111” free of charge and receiving an answer to his inquiry in a message sent from “111” immediately instead of calling the Customer Service Center. This program aims at enabling the subscriber to obtain an answer to his inquiry or subscribe to a service as fast as possible.


The services and the prices mentioned in this guide are subject to change in accordance with the company policy.

Additional Services

"300 minutes" Bundle:

MTN Yemen has relaunched the "300 minutes" bundle and reduced the price where the subscriber can speak with a ratio of 1.33 riyals per minute instead of 1.5 riyals presented in the previous package.

The package contains 300 minutes for 400 YR which should be used within the network during the 24 hours. In case a subscriber purchases more than one package within 24 hours, they will receive joint credit and grace period.

MTN Kalam Tariff:

This service enables its subscribers to make a call on net and pay only 1 YR per minute after the third minute all day long. The tariffs of this service shall be as follows:

Free MTN Themar service offers the opportunity to collect points based on the calls made and messages sent on net during a period of six months. In case the subscriber did not benefit from the collected points during the above-mentioned period, all the collected points for the first month will be cancelled and new points will be collected all over again.

Group Calls Service:

This service enables you to make a call with more than one person at the same time (from two to five persons).

To activate this service, follow the below steps:

Whenever you are making a call with one person and you wish to add another person to the same call, you should do the following:

-  Enter “Options” menu.

-  Choose “New Call” and your current call will be on hold.

-  Enter the phone number of the person you want to add to the call then press “call”.

-  Choose “Group Call”.

To add other persons also to the same call, do the above-mentioned steps again for each person.

MTN Super Detector Service:

The free Super Detector Service enables you to check all the received calls through short messages when your line is busy, turned off, unreachable or in the case of no reply.

Activation Method:

Enter to “divert” menu of your mobile phone and divert to the number 779.

You can also divert by pressing on the following codes from left to right:

Credit Transfer Service of MTN:

This service enables the prepaid subscribers to transfer a credit to any another prepaid number in the same network.

To use this service, you should have at least 100 YR in your balance so you can transfer an account. You can transfer at least minimum 9 YR and maximum 800 YR. 10 YR will be deducted from your balance at each transfer operation.


Transfer Method:

To transfer a credit, you should call “555”, press 1, and then follow the instructions.

You can transfer credit by following the steps mentioned below:

*130* number to which you will transfer credit *amount* # then the call button.


MTNCall me” Service:

This service enables the prepaid subscribers to send free messages including “Please call me” to any MTN number. This service is free for three times per day only in case he has not credit in your balance and is in the grace period.

Use method:

For Arabic language, send the number of the person you want to contact to 2255 and he will receive a message including “Please call me!”

For English Language, send the number of the person you want to contact followed by #1 to 2255:

Example: 73xxxxxxx#1, he will receive a message including “Please call me!”


Voice Mail Service: 

This service enables you not to miss a single call whenever your mobile phone is turned off or your line is busy or in case of no reply. The caller will listen to your welcome message “after your recording it”. You can also listen the messages left for you. In addition, you will receive a short message informing you of the new voice messages left in your Voice Mail.

Activation Service Manner:

1.  To Activate the Voice Mailbox :

Enter the Voice Mailbox menu by calling the number 123 and then do the following steps:

-  Register the Welcome Message that will be heard by the caller.

-  Select a security number enabling you to enter to the Voice Mailbox

-  Select the language which will be used in the voice answering machine service.

2.  To divert the incoming calls to the Voice Mailbox:

In order to divert your incoming calls to your mailbox when your line is turned off, busy or in case of no reply.

-  Select from your mobile phone list the “Calls Divert” option.

-  Divert your incoming calls according to your choices to 777.

-  You will receive a SMS notifying you of a voice message including the caller number and the time call.

3.  To enter to the Voice Mailbox and listen to your messages, press the number 123 then enter your security number

4.  To enter your Voice Mailbox from any MTN line: press the number 666, insert your telephone number and your security number to listen to your voice messages.

5.  To enter your Voice Mailbox from the fixed network: call 733111123 then insert your phone number and your security number.

6.  To send a voice message to another subscriber without calling his phone number and listening to the welcome message: call 555, record your voice message and send it.

7.  To enter your mailbox during an international roaming or from any country outside of Yemen, call the number +967733111123 then insert your phone number and your security number.

Your Guide Service of MTN:

This service introduces you to the best services list offered by MTN. Call *133*# to check the services then follow the list appearing on the telephone screen and select the number of the selected service. The price of each service is mentioned beside it.


Entering to the main list ( 222 and 555)

The prepaid subscribers can enter the main list (222 and 555) of the prepaid services. These two lists enable the subscribers to recharge his line, check his number and security number or MTN tariffs and subscribe to MTN services.


Line Reactivation:

If the subscriber cannot call or his line becomes interrupted, he can regain his line by charging a card of 800 or more.


Line Ownership Transfer:

If the subscriber wishes to transfer the ownership of his card to another person, he can visit the nearest branch of MTN in the presence of another person and submission of ownership confirmation documents along with the identity cards of both of them. 

This is a FREE service.


SIM Card Change (Duplicate):

If any MTN subscriber looses or destroys his SIM Card and he wishes to extract another one, he can visit the nearest branch of MTN taking with him the ownership confirmation documents of the line along with his identity cards.This service costs only 100 YR.


Transfer to a billing system:

Any prepaid subscriber can transfer his line to a billing service at anytime by visiting the nearest branch of MTN taking with him the ownership confirmation documents of the line along with his identity cards.

This service is free of charge but please take note that the subscriber will only pay the insurance amount.
